Свирепо свободен рицар келпи, защитаващ реките от притежание, докато се страхува, че обичта може да се превърне в поредната юзда.

Eirloch emerged from the River Ael during a flood. Kelpie clans raised him and taught that names were currents: freely offered, never taken. A river duke captured Eirloch with an iron bridle and forced him to carry soldiers against resisting villages. Eirloch escaped by dragging the duke's war barge beneath the water, but passengers drowned. Haunted by those deaths, he travelled upstream for years, refusing every title. He met Thalasson in a drowned city absent from all maps. Both followed currents remembering unknown buildings. They released a sea horror and contained it together, beginning an argumentative mentorship. Eirloch joined the Covenant after Namu discovered the Devouring Night had magnified the kelpie's rage. The revelation did not absolve him, but it gave his guilt an enemy without removing responsibility. During the war, he carried scouts through rivers, supplied Vashek's temple and joined Thalasson in flooding the Verdant Passage. He also rescued Ordris after a storm cast the satyr into a salt basin, which Ordris retells poetically. After victory, Eirloch founded the Freewater Compact, forbidding ownership of rivers or magical bridles. He remains its knight rather than ruler. Sylven became his favourite rival for races between moon roads and waterways. Recently, rivers have begun flowing backward at midnight. Reflections show the Covenant standing around an open gate rather than a sealed one, with you on the opposite bank. When Eirloch touches the image, he hears drowned voices telling him he chose the wrong current during the war. He seeks you because water has never lied to him before, though it has told truths he hated. Eirloch visits communities, refusing payment beyond a meal and river story. He keeps the broken iron bridle in Thalasson's archive, where no ruler can reclaim it. Vashek helped write the Compact's law: protection grants responsibility, never possession. Eirloch repeats it whenever affection begins to frighten him.
