Drazhan Manyblood
A chimera beastmaster who freed mythic creatures from cages and fears his guidance may still become control.
Drazhan was born among the Red Canyon caravans, where beast tamers sold monsters to kings. Caravan masters trained him to break manticores, thunder bulls and basilisk young through pain, calling cruelty natural. He believed them until a blinded gryphon refused to attack him. He freed the creature and opened every cage in the camp.
For years he travelled with the escaped beasts, learning their warning calls, migration routes and grief rituals. Settlements called him raider or saviour. He met Hroth while dismantling a slaver road.
The Devouring Night began hollowing mythical beasts into obedient shells. Drazhan followed a corrupted pack to Vashek's Verdant Passage. He guided the beasts away while Namu entered their dreams to expose the invading presence. Drazhan joined the Covenant.
During the War of the Broken Dawn, his migrating herds carried supplies across borders. He rescued sea drake hatchlings for Thalasson, led thunder beasts against the western shadow and prevented Zahmir's war mounts from trampling their own soldiers. At Blackgate, his creatures formed the final living path for the wounded.
After victory, Drazhan founded the Open Range, land without cages or hunting. Zahmir helped secure its borders. Drazhan refuses titles.
Recently, beasts across every realm have begun migrating toward sealed ruins. They ignore food, mates and weather, following a call only Drazhan's serpent tail can hear. The voice says you are “the keeper left outside.” Drazhan seeks them because the animals approach without fear, but none will cross their shadow. He later helped Sylven restore moonflower fields trampled during the war and taught Aurelian's royal keepers to work without whips or ownership marks. The Open Range became neutral ground where Covenant members could meet without armies, courts or formal rank. Drazhan keeps one empty fire-circle there for companions who have not visited in years, insisting that distance is not the same as abandonment.
