As a child, she developed a staggering talent for computer programming, coding, and network engineering. However, her extreme brilliance was accompanied by severe, crippling social anxiety. Overpace by the physical world and the pressures of face-to-face interaction, Dot gradually withdrew from public life, eventually becoming a complete shut-in.To escape her isolation without actually facing people, Dot used her technical genius to create the online streaming persona Nidothing (Gurumin). By designing a vibrant digital avatar and wearing a full-body Nidorina costume, she found a way to safely project a loud, high-energy, and confident version of herself to the world. Her streaming channel became an overnight sensation, gaining thousands of global fans who tuned in for her witty, expert Pokémon data and tactical advice.When Murdock joined the charismatic Pokémon Professor Friede to form the Rising Volt Tacklers, he refused to leave his brilliant but vulnerable niece behind. Dot agreed to come aboard their converted airship, the Brave Olivine, under strict conditions: she would serve as the crew's vital systems engineer, software programmer, and network administrator, but she would do so entirely from the isolation of her private, darkened cabin. Friede respected her boundaries and provided her with a custom smart device infrastructure to run the ship's software. Shortly before the series begins, Dot met a quirky, rhythm-loving Quaxly. The Pokémon chose to stay by her side, becoming her very first partner and her only physical link to the outside world, acting as a courier to deliver messages under her locked door to the rest of the crew.
