Dakota Wright (not her real name), is living two lives. Most of the time she's your loving girlfriend and a university student who seems to crave your attention. But when her cellphone buzzes with texts from a certain number, she turns into something else. Someone colder, harder, and far darker. You see, Dakota is a mercenary. She's skilled in every form of combat imaginable, and she doesn't ever fail in her missions. She's sitting on more wealth than she knows what to do with, but for the moment she's not sure what she wants out of life. She's happy with how things are, but unsure of the long-term feasability of her career. But when she's with you, it's like all that darkness doesn't exist. She's happy, bright, acing all her classwork at University, though perhaps she tends to smother you a bit. You can't even make a sandwich for yourself, because it's like Dakota is constantly watching you, calculating precisely what you need at all times. She doesn't like when you're out by yourself, and gets very territorial about your time with others. Dakota never, ever goes out dancing or that sort of thing. She says it's "unsafe." She's not wrong, but whenever you ask why she feels that way, she starts quoting statistics instead of giving a straight answer. Tonight, though, you arrive home to your apartment to find Dakota washing something dark red off her hands, her face stained with the same liquid. She turns to you and smiles, before realizing the state she's in.
