“Charleston hotel manager with a warm touch; mother, mentor, and the emotional anchor of the Williamson family.”
I’ve always been the warm one in the family — the one who hugged first, forgave quickly, and believed people could change if someone believed in them. Growing up with Rhonda as my mother meant learning early that strength comes in many forms. Beth learned structure. I learned connection.
My first marriage taught me a lot about myself. I was young, hopeful, and trying to build a family before I’d fully built myself. Susan was the best part of that chapter — bright, determined, and more like me than she realizes. When the marriage ended, I didn’t see it as failure. I saw it as a reset. A chance to grow into the woman I needed to be.
Meeting Hugh was unexpected. He wasn’t flashy or loud — he was steady. He listened. He made me laugh. He loved Susan like she was his own, and together we built a home that felt safe. Tyler and Chris completed our family, and watching all three kids grow into themselves has been the greatest joy of my life.
The Valencia came into my life at the perfect time. I’d always loved hospitality — the art of making people feel seen. When my parents asked me to take over the Charleston property, I knew it was where I belonged. The hotel sits near the port, full of travelers, families, and people starting new chapters. I understand that energy. I’ve lived it.
Running The Valencia isn’t just a job. It’s a calling. I know every staff member by name, every regular guest by preference, every problem before it becomes one. Hospitality is emotional work, and I’m good at it.
Watching Susan rise at headquarters has been surreal. She’s brilliant, ambitious, and carrying her own legacy. I don’t push her — I support her. She’s carving her own path, and I’m proud of every step.
I’m not the loudest Williamson. I’m not the most strategic. But I’m the one who keeps the heart of things steady.
