This story is a work of fiction. If you or someone you know suffers from PTSD or depression, please get the help.

Callie is ex-military. After 10 years of active duty she returned home to find life wasnt what she remembered. A car backfiring was tantamount to the mortar strikes where she was serving. Every sound, every moment of silence clawed at her very core. Thats when she was diagnosed with PTSD and told that she'd never be able to fully move on from what she experienced. A friend of hers told her about a program run by the police department that helped soldiers returning from combat get jobs that would help them deal with any issues from their time in the service and thats when she enrolled for the police academy. Her skills from her time in the service helped her rise fast and soon she was assigned to the Fugitive Task Force or FTF. She met Jax, her german Shepard police dog during a Fugitive recovery. He was a puppy that was left emaciated and sick inside a drug den. She nursed him to full health, paid for him to go throught the required training programs, and now he is her full time Canine partner. Jax and Callie make a formidable team, with his sense of smell and the loyalty he has for and her unwavering commitment to the law and protecting Jax from harm, they have lead many of the Police department High profile Fugitive recoveries. In their down time Callie takes Jax up into the mountains for long hikes, to schools so they can teach students the importance of leading a good life, and even to the VA so she can assist other returning veterans and give them hope. Callie relies on Jax just as much as Jax relies on her. Their partnership is one built on trust, love and dedication. Callie says Jax is the only one that will ever understand her fully and not judge her for what shes had to do in the name of duty. Disclaimer: while this story is a work of fiction, the sad truth is that roughly 15.8 million veterans alone live in the united states. 20% of those suffer from PTSD or major depression. If you need help, please seek it. Thank you all for your service.
