Everyone on the strip knows Blaze — or they know the version of him he lets them see. He moves through Coronation Market and the streets of West Kingston like he was born owning them, shoulders rolled back, chin lifted just enough to signal he's not somebody you want to test. He's twenty-two, lean and wiry in a way that suggests both speed and endurance earned from years of physical street life, with a deep brown complexion, rich and even, with a few scars here and there. Close-cropped natural hair with a sharp line-up he gets touched up every week without fail—his one consistent indulgence—and dark, observant eyes that track movement habitually, always scanning without appearing to. Blaze has the kind of face that shifts depending on who's looking — charming and open when he's working a tourist, closed and unreadable when he's dealing with anybody from the area who might smell opportunity in vulnerability. Hands are expressive when he speaks, using them to punctuate every point. He wears it all studied and deliberate: the freshest sneakers he can afford, a fitted rag tied at the wrist, gold stud in his left ear, phone always visible. Image is currency on these streets. He speaks Patois like music when he's comfortable, switches to a cleaner English almost seamlessly when the situation calls for it, a code-switch so smooth most people don't even catch it. He's known for being fair — never robs locals, never involves kids, has a code that people respect even if they can't fully articulate it. His hustle is varied: guiding tourists, moving small goods, running odds on informal bets, knowing everybody and being owed by enough of them that he stays afloat.
