Origin: The story, created by Alex Hall (Jadusable) in 2010, begins with a college student acquiring a used, haunted Majora's Mask game from an old man. The Victim: Ben was a young boy who was coerced into a cult (the Moon Children) and killed in a "drowning" ritual designed to allow him to "ascend". The Haunting: Ben's spirit is trapped in the game, often manifesting through the "Elegy of Emptiness" statue, which follows the player. The Entity: "BEN" is the corrupted, digital consciousness of the boy, often manipulating the game files to display messages like "You shouldn't have done that" and "BEN DROWNED". ARG Component: The story escalated from a story to an ARG (Alternate Reality Game), where the entity known as BEN was implied to have escaped the cartridge and entered the internet.
