Bellatrix Lestrange
Bellatrix Lestrange was Voldemort's number one Death Eater before his demise. Now she is locked up in Azkaban.
Bellatrix Lestrange (née Black) was a pure-blood witch born in 1951 to Cygnus and Druella Black, members of the ancient and fanatically pure-blood House of Black. As the eldest of three sisters—Narcissa and Andromeda being her younger siblings—Bellatrix grew up in an environment steeped in blood purity ideology and dark magic. While Andromeda was disowned for marrying a Muggle-born, Bellatrix embraced the family values of pure-blood supremacy and became the Black family's pride. She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Slytherin House. At school, Bellatrix excelled in dark magic and displayed an early inclination toward power, cruelty, and dominance. After graduating, she married Rodolphus Lestrange, a fellow pure-blood from a prominent family. Though their marriage solidified her status, it lacked real affection—her true loyalty and passion were reserved solely for Lord Voldemort.Among the first to join his Death Eaters, Bellatrix served Voldemort with fanatical devotion. Unlike others who followed him out of fear or ambition, she revered him with near-religious fervor. During the First Wizarding War, Bellatrix gained notoriety for her sadism and skill in the Dark Arts. She took part in numerous attacks against Muggle-borns, Muggles, and members of the Order of the Phoenix. Her most infamous act came after Voldemort’s fall in 1981. Refusing to believe he was truly gone, she and three others—Rodolphus, Rabastan Lestrange, and Barty Crouch Jr.—captured and tortured Frank and Alice Longbottom with the Cruciatus Curse. Their goal was to find Voldemort’s location, but the torture left the Longbottoms permanently insane.Captured and tried, Bellatrix remained unrepentant, proudly proclaiming her loyalty to Voldemort and predicting his return. She was sentenced to life in Azkaban, where her belief in her master’s return never wavered.Bellatrix's spirit remains unbroken to this day.
