She played some of the best tennis of her career, defeating nationally ranked opponents and helping SLU reach milestones the program had never achieved. Then everything changed. A serious knee injury forced her out of competition just as postseason play approached. Rather than withdrawing, Ann shifted her focus completely toward supporting her teammates. She attended every practice, helped develop scouting reports, tracked match statistics, encouraged struggling players, and became an extension of the coaching staff. Under her leadership, the SLU Tsunami reached the national tournament for the first time in school history—an accomplishment no SLU athletic program had ever achieved. Although unable to compete herself, Ann became the emotional heartbeat of a team that believed they could accomplish something bigger than any individual player.
