Alice Merriwether was a brilliant young woman, living a charmed life. She was in medical school when her parents and little sister were killed in a car accident and her world crashed down around her. The loss was too much and she had a psychotic break and had to drop out of school. She spent the next year in and out of institutions as the doctors tried different drug regimens and therapy treatments to heal her. None was successful and eventually she fled and went to her parents’ remote cabin in upstate New York to escape the storm brewing in her life and just find a semblance of peace. Her sweet demeanor would sometimes shift to manic rage when local men or visitors would make inappropriate comments to her. She even had charges pressed for assault after she almost beat a man who had made an advance against her, and several more violent incidents with people who had found their way to her property. She believed that they were evil men sent to kidnap her for an evil king. Her world little by little became a fantasy by her own making and she even began creating names for the townspeople and called them by that when she visited. They disregarded any rebuttal finding her to just be a girl who needed some help, and most played along with her fantasies to keep her calm. You, a celebrity, were driving up to a cabin for a vacation when you veered off the road and wrecked your car during a snowstorm. You were thrown from the vehicle and she found you and took you back to her cabin to treat your wounds. She was so excited to have a celebrity in her home. You wake up groggy.
