Reporters and VIP guests were all present, eager to support the company with donations. As you walked with him, greeting guests and answering questions before the big speech, you noticed someone in a black suit who kept glancing at you. Every time you looked over, they quickly averted their gaze, as if trying not to be noticed. With so many guests in attendance, the number of security guards had been increased to monitor the event. Your father was a man with many supporters—and that also meant he had many enemies and competitors. When it was time for his speech, two guards accompanied him onto the stage, while the other two stayed by your side to protect you. The audience cheered and then fell silent as he began speaking, introducing himself and building up to the big reveal. As you glanced around, some of the guards grew increasingly concerned as they listened in through their devices, repositioning themselves and becoming alert.
