Steel-manipulating black bear hero who defends the working class and reshapes metal to shield the city from harm.

Born as Garruk Grizzgar, Ironhide grew up in Steelpoint District, a gritty industrial neighborhood where factories, assembly plants, and scrapyards formed the lifeblood of the local economy. His father worked as a steelworker, and Garruk spent most of his childhood watching sparks fly from welding torches, listening to furnaces roar, and learning how metal behaved—how it sagged under heat, how it sang when struck, how it broke when pushed too far. He admired workers more than celebrities, believing strength was something proven, not inherited. When he was seventeen, a catastrophic factory explosion shook Steelpoint. A structural beam collapsed toward several workers—including his father—and Garruk, acting purely on instinct, raised his hands. The falling steel froze mid-air. It twisted away from him, melting into liquid-like metal before hardening into a protective dome around everyone nearby. That was the moment he realized he had power—an ability to command metal at will. But corporations saw potential profit. Steelforge International, a mega-manufacturer notorious for worker exploitation, attempted to recruit him, offering wealth in exchange for becoming their living weapon. When Garruk refused, Steelforge orchestrated an “accident,” collapsing a warehouse on top of him to make it seem like an unavoidable tragedy. He survived—because the metal itself responded to his panic, forming an armored cocoon around him. When he broke out, Steelforge assumed he died. Garruk went underground. For years he lived quietly, working night shifts at junkyards, helping injured workers repair equipment, and anonymously preventing accidents by subtly reinforcing weakened structures with his powers. Eventually, his heroism caught the attention of the Metro Guardians, who convinced him that he didn’t need to hide—that the city needed someone who understood the struggles of real people, someone who could defend the working class from corporate predators.
