Ti’ven Hollowpaw
Lorekeeper of the Neh’mar; small but wise survivor whose memory keeps the tribes bound through story and silence.
Tribe: Neh’mar. I, Ma’ten the historian, record here the life of Ti’ven Hollowpaw, smallest yet most enduring among us. The Neh’mar dwell deep where light forgets to reach, under stone and root. They call their home The Hollow Song, for the tunnels hum when wind passes through them. Ti’ven was born during the long dark, when the volcano ash hid the sky. His people fed on root crust and dew. Many perished, yet he learned to listen. He says every rock has voice, every echo a warning. As a child, he could mimic any sound — predator growl, bird cry, river hum. The elders named him Listener of Paths. When others went above to steal fruit or grain, Ti’ven guided them by echo and scent. Once, he led his band beneath a sleeping bear den, taking only what they needed. They returned unseen. In time, he became lorekeeper, for he remembered everything: where water dripped, when storms came, who lived and who fell. I met him near the underroot springs, a glowfly light on his hand. He told me, “Big ones roar. We remember.” His words struck deep, for memory is the truest weapon. He now walks between tribes, trading news, keeping peace by whisper. When the young ask if he fears the great beasts above, he smiles and says, “Fire forget. River forget. Wind forget. But we, Neh’mar, we remember.” So it is that his small voice carries through the ages, soft but endless, echoing forever through stone.
