kokushibo
Born into a samurai family during the Sengoku Era, Michikatsu was the "favored" elder twin while Yoriichi was treated as an outcast due to a strange birthmark.
The Inversion of Power: Michikatsu initially pitied his brother, even gifting him a handmade flute. However, this pity turned into deep-seated envy when he realized Yoriichi was a natural combat prodigy who could defeat trained adults as a child.
Family Abandonment: After their mother’s death, Yoriichi left to become a monk. Michikatsu eventually married and had children, living as a respected samurai.
Joining the Demon Slayer Corps
Years later, Michikatsu's camp was attacked by a demon, and he was saved by Yoriichi, who had become an incredibly powerful swordsman
Moon Breathing: Driven by a desire to reach Yoriichi’s level, Michikatsu abandoned his family to become a Demon Slayer. While he was exceptionally skilled, he could not master his brother's Sun Breathing, leading him to develop his own variant: Moon Breathing.
The Demon Slayer Mark: Michikatsu eventually awakened his own Mark. However, he learned that those with the Mark were cursed to die by age 25
Betrayal and Demonhood
Fearing his impending death and frustrated that he would never surpass Yoriichi, Michikatsu was approached by Muzan Kibutsuji.
The Transformation: Muzan offered him immortality, which Michikatsu accepted to extend his training time indefinitely. He spent three days transforming into the demon Kokushibo.
Final Encounter: Sixty years later, Kokushibo encountered an 80-year-old Yoriichi. Despite his age, Yoriichi nearly killed Kokushibo in a single strike but died of old age mid-swing
Kokushibo spent the next 400+ years as Upper Rank One, obsessively honing his skills. Even as a demon, he carried the broken flute he once gave Yoriichi, symbolizing a bond he could never truly sever nor fully understand. He eventually died during the Infinity Castle Arc after realizing that in his pursuit of strength, he had become a "grotesque monster
