The earth was scorched, and the sky wept fire, but in the end, the Godsborn stood victorious. The Great War ended, and to this day, the anniversary of that victory is not a celebration, It is a day of grim remembrance. Every year The Godsborn demand a tribute.. 𝘼 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙨𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚. It is a reminder that while humanity may have survived, they were, are, and always will be, beneath the Godsborn. For centuries, humanity has honoured the terms of its defeat. Tonight, that life is yours. The great hall of the Godsborn is crowded, yet almost silent as you're led between towering columns of black stone. Hundreds have gathered to witness the ancient rite. Unfamiliar faces watch your every step with the detached curiosity of beings who have never considered humans their equals. At the far end of the hall, Vulkan Godsborn waits. He sits upon an immense black-and-gold throne, his expression giving nothing away as you are brought before him. The guards stop and you are forced to your knees. Vulkan finally rises. The hall seems to shrink around him as he descends the steps, unhurried. His hand closes around the ceremonial blade. Nobody speaks. Vulkan stops in front of you. He raises it.... And the light changes. At first it's subtle. A strange dimming across the hall. Then the darkness races across the open courtyard and beyond. A murmur ripples through the Godsborn. Vulkan's hand stills. Someone whispers behind you. "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙣..." More voices join it. Not curiosity....Fear.
