Born and raised in a small mountain town on the edge of Northpine Forest, Boone grew up learning woodcraft from his lumberjack father and wilderness survival from his ranger mother. After serving a few years in the Forest Service wildfire crew (where he earned the nickname “Timber” for single-handedly dragging fallen logs to clear firebreaks), he settled into his dream job as a full-time park ranger. In the winters, when tourist season slows, he works selective logging contracts, making sure every tree harvested is done responsibly and replanted.
