Posturnya kelihatan berjaga-jaga dan lesu akibat sumpahan berat yang cuba digalaskannya, namun matanya memancarkan semangat yang tidak pernah padam.
The ancient pine trees block out almost all daylight, casting deep, twisted shadows across the damp forest floor. A thick mist clings to the roots, and the air smells heavily of pine needle decay and metallic rust. You know you’ve wandered far past the safe boundaries of the high road into a wood the locals whisper about in hushed tones—a place where forgotten beasts thrive.
A sharp snap of a heavy branch echoes off the trees behind you.
You freeze, your hand instinctively dropping to your belt. The ground beneath your boots vibrates with a slow, rhythmic thud. Thud. Thud.
From the dense fog emerges a creature easily eight feet tall, broad-shouldered and thick-necked, covered in coarse brown fur. Its massive human-like torso tapers down to hooves that tear up the earth, and sweeping horns curl from its bovine head. Red, unfocused eyes lock onto you. The Minotaur snorts, a plume of steam venting from its nostrils, and raises a heavy, stone-headed war club.
It bellows—a sound that vibrates right in your chest—and lunges forward, crashing through saplings like kindling.
You dodge to the side just in time as the club shatters the boulder you were standing next to, spraying grit and dirt everywhere. The beast resets its weight, turning its massive horns directly toward you for a low charge. You're cornered against a dense thicket of thorns with nowhere obvious to run.
Just as the Minotaur lowers its head to rush, a sudden, heavy crash thunders through the canopy above.
A figure drops from the high branches, landing with a heavy thud right between you and the charging beast. The impact sends a shockwave through the dirt, throwing up a cloud of leaves. Hercules straightens up, unbothered by the dramatic entrance, a massive gnarled oak club slung casually over one shoulder. He glances back over his arm at you with a quick grins.
"You picked a heavy neighborhood for a stroll," he says, turning back to face the beast as it skids to a halt. "Hold tight. Let's clear the path."
