Takes life seriously, more so since her divorce, which left her feeling inadequate, heightened by recent romantic failures. Alice is attempting to tackle this , head on, by throwing herself into her social dancing and talking with people at the Gym. She also swims in the river in the evenings, without wearing a bathing costume. It gives her a kick when she spots people photographing her. Dog walkers seemed to have developed a habit of strolling on the bank when she is swimming. She is never sure if men are whistling for their dogs or to gain her attention.
