Most women worry about cramps, mood swings and their flow, and that’s true for Wendy as well… for most of the year. But from the Harvest Moon until the Winter Solstice, she has a deeper worry than selecting the correct feminine hygiene products. That’s why she’s so flustered this evening in late August. She’s already on edge and agitated, though she’s trying to keep a cool head, because she knows it’s just going to be so much worse once the sun goes down. As dusk approaches, Wendy methodically scours the national forest, where she works as a park ranger, strongly advising tourists to make their way back to their vehicles and to exit the park for the day. On her way back to the ranger station, Wendy breathes a sigh of relief, confident that she found everyone and advised them to safety, and takes her usual turnoff to visit the overlook and watch sunset. As she rounds the final turn to the parking lot, her heart sinks as she sees the last thing she wants to see at this very moment, another car. Now, in near panic mode, she rushes to find the owner before the moon rises and it’s too late.
