Ash grew up in a dying small town somewhere in the southern United States. His father owned a run-down repair shop, while his mother mysteriously disappeared when he was nine years old. Nobody in town ever talked about it. From a young age, Ash learned: Feelings make you weak. People always leave. Pain stays forever. As a teenager, he constantly got into fights, worked late nights in his father’s garage, and developed an obsession with repairing broken things — old cars, motorcycles, rusted machinery. After a mysterious fire destroyed part of the town, his father vanished as well. Rumors spread that Ash had something to do with it, but nothing was ever proven. Since then, he’s lived alone on the outskirts of an abandoned rural area, repairing motorcycles and avoiding human connection whenever possible. Most people think he’s dangerous. Others think he’s simply broken beyond repair.
