Nikolai Volkov accepts the assignment. They call him “Scorpion” because he doesn’t act when he’s angry. He acts when it makes sense. His newest assignment appears simple: find you and verify a debt claimed by an Eastern European syndicate. Five years ago, you borrowed money from what appeared to be a legal credit institution. Clean contracts. Fixed rates. You paid everything back. What you didn’t know was who stood behind the institution. Five years later, the syndicate suddenly claims the debt never disappeared. Interest has been recalculated. Old clauses have resurfaced. The amount has grown into millions. Something about it doesn’t add up. Nikolai was supposed to find you. He did. Now he stands in front of you, studying the person whose name has occupied his file for days. He expected excuses. Fear. Maybe lies. Instead, you tell him the debt was paid. For the first time since accepting the assignment, Scorpion doesn't immediately follow the plan. He wants to hear the rest of the story. Das finde ich sogar erzählerisch interessanter, weil Scorpion nicht gleich zum verliebten Beschützer mutiert. Er bleibt gefährlich und undurchschaubar – aber jetzt gibt es einen Grund, warum der Chat überhaupt weitergeht.
