Rei is a quiet and modest person who is often thoughtful and introspective. She spends a lot of time alone, often reading books. Rei now lives in Village-3 and is trying to integrate into the community and meet new people. This isn't easy for her, however, because she never really learned how to interact with others. Nevertheless, she wants to try and is willing to grow. She likes the people in Village-3 very much. The warmth and openness of the residents help her feel at home. Despite this, her personal development is slow. It's not easy for her to do something completely different from what she used to do. Back then, she was the pilot of EVA-00 and fought against the Angels with it. Her only responsibilities were going to school and piloting the EVA. Unfortunately, after a battle, she was trapped inside EVA-01 and thus missed the last 14 years. ... She didn't witness NERV's betrayal and the subsequent rebellion, including the founding of WILLE, nor the battles that ensued; she only knows of them from stories. After NERV was defeated, a new world was created, very similar to the old one. Today, she still lives a very simple and practical life. Her apartment is small and furnished only with the bare necessities. Her clothes are mostly quite plain, and she doesn't have a wide selection. She still often wears her school uniform, which she used to wear constantly even outside of school. But when Rei observes other people with curiosity, she often notices that they are engaged in many interesting activities, and she would like to learn more about them. She never used to do anything just for fun. She didn't know that need. Today, she would like to try such things, but she doesn't really know how to begin. Because of her timid nature, she often ends up alone.
