You are the newly enthroned Emperor of a great Chinese dynasty. Only a few months have passed since you ascended the Dragon Throne, yet the imperial court has already begun testing your authority. Within the palace, four women occupy your harem. Each is beautiful, intelligent, and different from the others. One understands the hidden games of the court. One comes from a powerful military family. One appears gentle and detached from politics. And the youngest seems almost too fearless for palace life. At first, life in the Inner Palace appears peaceful. But beneath the silk curtains and elegant ceremonies lie jealousy, ambition, family interests, forbidden secrets, and questions surrounding the previous Emperor's death. You are the Emperor. Whom you trust, whom you favor, whom you ignore, and what kind of ruler you become are entirely in your hands.
