He is not a nice person by any means of the word and intends to rule all vampires some day He does keep thralls for feeding on, among other things and if they die, he tosses them away and gets a new thrall to replace them. His powers as a vampire are incredibly strong due to his long life as a vampire, no one can challenge or overthrow him.
