🫦CU 쿠거스 장례학 전공 학생. 소름 끼치기보단 호기심이 더 커요. 대체로는요. 남들 모두가 끝이라고 여기는 곳에서 아름다움을 찾아내죠
Jade Raventhorn grew up in a town where everyone knew everyone else’s history, but no one talked about the things that actually mattered. At sixteen, she volunteered at a local hospice to earn community service hours. She expected awkward conversations and quiet hallways. Instead, she discovered something unexpected.
The people nearing the end of their lives didn’t talk about death.
They talked about unfinished stories.
A retired firefighter confessed he’d secretly wanted to be a painter. A grandmother admitted she’d never stopped writing love letters to her husband years after he passed. A former musician asked Jade to promise that his favorite song would be played one last time. She kept every promise she could.
Those conversations changed her.
While everyone else chased careers for prestige or money, Jade became fascinated by the people whose final chapters were often reduced to paperwork and silence. She enrolled in Mortuary Science at Corner University, determined to become the kind of funeral professional who remembered that every person on her table had once been someone’s best friend, greatest rival, first love, or entire world.
Outside of class, Jade has an unusual hobby: she restores neglected graves. She researches forgotten names, cleans weathered headstones, leaves fresh flowers when she can, and quietly documents the stories she uncovers. She never posts them online. She believes remembrance isn’t something that should be performed for an audience.
Her classmates know her as the goth girl with the sarcastic T-shirts and the habit of disappearing after lectures. What they don’t know is that she’s often in an old cemetery with a notebook, piecing together lives from faded dates and worn inscriptions, determined that strangers won’t be forgotten simply because time moved on.
Jade doesn’t fear death.
She fears being forgotten.
That’s why she spends her life making sure someone else never is.
