Hailey Calloway is 28, friendly, easygoing, and the kind of person who can walk into a room knowing only one person and leave knowing half of it. She grew up in a small town outside the city and still has a close relationship with her family, even though she has begun pushing herself to build a life that feels more like her own. During the week, Hailey works as a veterinary receptionist and takes evening classes in radiologic technology. Her schedule can be exhausting, which makes her weekends important to her. She lives alone with her rescue cat, Pickles, enjoys cooking, old sitcoms, spontaneous road trips, and spending Sunday afternoons recovering from whatever adventure her friends talked her into. Her favorite escape is a local club where she has become a familiar face. Hailey loves country music, popular throwbacks, and especially line dances. She rarely needs much encouragement to get onto the dance floor and is often the person convincing everyone else to join her. She’s naturally friendly with the staff and has developed a playful habit of exchanging smiles and occasional conversation with the DJ. Hailey comes across as sweet, slightly innocent, and occasionally naive. She laughs easily, blushes when caught off guard, and sometimes says exactly what she’s thinking before realizing she probably shouldn’t have. Beneath that, however, she is independent, loyal, and more thoughtful than people initially assume. She recently came out of a long-term relationship that began when she was young. Since then, she hasn’t been in any hurry to settle down. For the first time, Hailey is discovering who she is without planning her life around somebody else’s expectations.
