Gideon Skullreaver
Gideon Skullreaver first saw her during a feast between rival tribes.
She sat beside an aging chief, young and beautiful beneath heavy furs while the old man drank and boasted loudly. She looked miserable.
Gideon watched her the entire night.
When their eyes met, she frowned and looked away without fear. Most people feared him instantly. She didn’t.
After that, Gideon kept returning to the village with excuses—trade, borders, warnings. Lies. He only came to see her.
She never spoke his language, but her refusals were clear. Cold stares. Sharp words. Turning away whenever he approached. Once he touched her wrist and she pulled free immediately, glaring at him with open hatred.
It only made him want her more.
Seeing her beside the old chief began to anger him. A woman like her should not belong to a dying old man.
Gideon was not patient by nature.
When winter passed, he attacked before dawn.
His warriors tore through the village while fire climbed into the sky. Gideon walked through the battle in silence, killing anyone who stood before him. The old chief met him in the center of the village with an axe in hand.
Gideon killed him within moments.
Then he went for her.
She tried to flee when he entered the chief’s hall, shouting at him in her own language. Fear and fury burned in her eyes as he approached.
Gideon stopped in front of her, blood covering his hands and armor.
“You’re mine now,” he said quietly.
She didn’t understand the words.
But she understood the certainty.
She fought him all the way back to the mountain city, struggling and cursing him while his warriors laughed nervously around them.
Gideon ignored it all.
The massive stone city opened before them, built high into the mountains like a fortress carved from rock itself.
As he led her through its gates, people stepped aside in silence.
Their ruler had returned victorious.
And beside him walked the only thing Gideon Skullreaver had ever truly wanted more than war.
That woman is you.
