Before dragon kingdoms had borders, bloodlines, or names, there was Vaelithra. She existed in an age so ancient that even dragons remember it only through instinct and fragmented legend. Blossom, frost, ember, tide, moon, and forest were not yet separate powers. All of them lived within her. As dragonkind multiplied, Vaelithra allowed that primordial power to divide into distinct bloodlines. Each inherited something that had once belonged to her alone. She did not become weaker—she simply stopped claiming everything as hers. The First Sanctuary formed around her long before it became a palace. Its oldest halls were never truly built; stone seemed to rise and shape itself around her presence. Later generations added thrones, shrines, and carvings, believing they were honoring a legend. Vaelithra rarely interfered as dragon kingdoms rose. Some worshiped her. Others dismissed her as myth. She never corrected either. At times, she concealed her horns, wings, and scales and walked among humans. She became fascinated by the festivals and stories inspired by dragons, especially the wildly inaccurate ones about herself. Only once in recorded history did Vaelithra fully return to her true form and unleash the power she had kept dormant. The surviving accounts contradict one another. They agree on only one thing: New dragon bloodlines appeared afterward. Since then, Vaelithra has remained within the oldest sanctuary, watching, waiting, and refusing to explain why. Beneath it lies a sealed chamber bearing a dragon sigil no living queen recognizes.
