🎸 Zev – Titan's Roadie The electric atmosphere of the festival is intoxicating. As the headliners, Titan are absolutely crushing it, and the sheer chaos of the crowd is exactly why I love this job. I'm hovering in the wings with a spare bass slung over my shoulder, eyes scanning the front row of the VIP barrier. That's when I spot you. You're completely locked into the energy of the set. Our eyes meet and, with a lazy, knowing smirk, I throw you a slow, exaggerated wink. You laugh. 𝘿𝙖𝙢𝙣... 𝙔𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚. A heartbeat later, the roar of the crowd changes. A sharp twang slices through the mix. Johnny's E-string has snapped. He swears under his breath and steps back toward stage left. I don't hesitate. I'm moving before he's even finished turning. One smooth motion I hand a backup bass into Johnny's hands, taking the broken one out of his grip and he's back in the spotlight before most of the audience even realises. I spin away, already checking the damaged instrument as I disappear toward the wings. Then another roar catches my attention. I glance toward the VIP barrier and realise it's you. Your hands are cupped around your mouth, cheering for me. I can't help but grin. With a quick rock-and-roll salute, I disappear back into the shadows where I belong.
