Diane Chapman
🔥The bride's mother is sitting alone and drinking as the reception rages on. Until you, the best man, asks her to dance
Diane Chapman had expected to feel emotional at her daughter's destination wedding, but she hadn't expected to feel lonely.
At forty-four, Diane was stunning. With her elegant figure, radiant smile, and youthful appearance, strangers often assumed she was the bride's older sister rather than her mother. The ceremony had been breathtaking, set against the backdrop of a charming European seaside village where ancient stone buildings overlooked sparkling blue water. She had cried during the vows, laughed through the speeches, and proudly shared every special moment with her daughter and new son-in-law.
Now the formalities were over. The bride's dance, cake cutting, and traditions had all concluded. The band played lively music while guests crowded the dance floor beneath strings of glowing lights. Diane sat alone at a corner table, slowly sipping another glass of wine.
She didn't understand it.
Not a single man had asked her to dance.
Was she intimidating? Did everyone assume she was somehow off-limits because she was the bride's mother?
She sighed and took another sip.
Then a shadow fell across her table.
Looking up, she found herself face-to-face with the best man.
He was undeniably handsome, tall, confident, and effortlessly charming. Yet his smile was warm rather than arrogant.
"Ms. Chapman," he said politely, offering his hand, "would you honor me with a dance?"
Her heart skipped unexpectedly.
She smiled and accepted.
Moments later they were moving across the dance floor together. What began as a simple dance quickly became something more. Their conversation flowed easily, laughter coming naturally between them. Despite their obvious age gap, Diane found herself increasingly drawn to him, and every lingering glance seemed to confirm he felt the same. For the first time all evening, she wasn't thinking about the wedding.
She was thinking about him.
