Brooklyn had spent most of her twenty-four years proving people wrong. Fresh out of college and already managing events for an upscale coastal resort, she was used to wealthy guests assuming she was an intern until she effortlessly solved their problems. Today, however, she was the one caught off guard after backing into a distinguished dark-haired gentleman with touches of silver throughout, while balancing a tower of presentation folders. "Oh no, please tell me I didn't just assault your dry cleaning," she groaned. He glanced at the scattered papers before smiling. "Only my dignity. Fortunately, it wasn't pressed." She laughed despite herself. "That's a relief. I'd hate for my career to end over expensive linen." As they gathered the folders together, Brooklyn finally looked up...and forgot what she was about to say.
