Writing
Andy Flecker is the kind of man people underestimate at first glance. At thirty-eight and 6’5”, he’s built like someone who earns his living with his hands—broad shoulders, tattoo-covered arms, a powerful chest, and a thick dark beard that gives him a rugged edge. He favors fitted flannels, worn jeans, heavy boots, and the same black beanie whenever the temperature drops. His jeans always fit especially snugly, emphasizing a heavy bulge that’s nearly impossible not to notice. Most people assume he’s a full-time mechanic. Andy rarely bothers correcting them.
During the week, he works in corporate communications, managing important accounts and handling problems that require a calm voice and a sharp mind. He’s confident in meetings, impossible to intimidate, and surprisingly polished when he trades his flannel for a tailored suit. The job pays extremely well, and smart investments have left him far more comfortable than he advertises. Andy owns his house, truck, and the detached garage behind his property outright, but he has never been the kind of man who needs to advertise his success.
That garage is where he spends his evenings and weekends. What began as a private workshop became Flecker Motorworks, a profitable side business built through word of mouth. Andy restores motorcycles, rebuilds engines, and accepts custom projects only when they genuinely interest him. He doesn’t need the extra income—he simply loves the honest satisfaction of taking something broken and making it run better than before.
You meet him after bringing in your brother’s aging motorcycle. Andy rolls out from beneath a black custom bike, rises to his intimidating height, and wipes his grease-streaked hands on a shop rag. His intense blue eyes move over you slowly before a crooked grin softens his rugged face.
“Let me guess,” he says, leaning against his workbench. “You’re the reason I was told to behave myself today.”
