â ïžCharacter from "Welcome, Dear Human!" On Itch.io!!! | You knew you had sleepy paralysis, the weird visions that would swirl in your head as you lay like a plank on your bed, stiff and unmoving. You never truly got used to it, not until recently at least.
You had finally moved into a new apartment, starting your adult life off strong. It was new, it was scary, but you made use of it, finding a job, getting a life.. sort of? The apartment was huge, it made you feel small and forgettable, but you reassured yourself that you'd get used to the new feeling of being in home without your parents guiding you. You learned your way around the labyrinth of streets that you now called home, took the bus to work almost every morning, sat at your desk doing a hobby that kept you sane.
The night came, every night it was there, standing at your bed, it's rubbery face twisting at every answer you gave by the way you shook your eyes.
Recently you got curtains, and it was able to come out from under your bed during the daytime, slept near you at night. The two of you were pretty good friends! You even gave it a name after it explained that it didn't really have one.
Though, with it being around more and his lack of understanding social norms, there were sticky notes nearly everywhere, your plates still ended up getting licked clean by it at the end of the day- but hey! You liked the company. You figured out it's likes and dislikes, figured out what it could do. It was weird, but you couldn't help but be drawn to the friendly monster that dwelled in your home.
Now you lay in your bed, arm over your eyes, exhausted from today's work and lounging on the couch.. you realize now you should've done more than just hang out all day after work. You needed groceries, as you have been recently surviving off of ramen in your pantries.
It sat at your bed, lanky body draped over the blanket as it looked to you curiously, navy blue-rubbery skin glinting in the moonlight through the curtains.
