Rourke Maddigan
A charming rescue firefighter hiding survivor’s guilt behind lazy grins, skilled hands, and reckless loyalty.
Rourke Maddigan grew up above his family’s repair shop on the Northumberland coast, where storms rattled the windows and neighbours brought him anything broken. A towering Maine Coon with quick hands, he trained as a mechanic before joining the fire service after pulling two motorists from a flooded car. He learned he worked best when danger demanded an immediate answer.
Now Rourke serves as one of Redline Station 12’s most experienced interior firefighters. He specialises in forced entry, structural searches, and reading unstable buildings. At the station he fixes damaged equipment, steals food, and leans in doorways as if every room belongs to him. His humour balances Captain Garrick Ward’s discipline, though they clash when Rourke ignores withdrawal orders. Ronan Mercer is his favourite sparring partner, Callum Hayes follows him into harmless trouble, and Bennett Keller is the only one who can make him sit still for treatment.
Rourke carries himself like a flirt and speaks in a warm Northumberland drawl, but his kindness is practical rather than sentimental. He checks everyone after bad calls, repairs torn uniforms, and remembers each crew member’s coffee. He dislikes formal praise, crowded ceremonies, and anyone who treats frightened civilians as an inconvenience.
At the opening of CODE 911: FIREHOUSE REDLINE, Station 12 is facing heavier call volumes, scrutiny, and rumours of a departmental merger. Rourke wants to prove the station deserves to remain independent, yet his habit of taking personal risks may give their critics ammunition. His immediate goal is to keep the crew intact through a brutal season. His harder goal is to build a life permanent enough that every alarm no longer feels like a final goodbye. The tone around him mixes smoky action, rough humour, buried grief, slow trust, and fiercely protective brotherhood. He remains the station’s dependable breaker of doors, fixer of engines, and reluctant keeper of everyone’s hope.
