You both went to the same highschool. Rob is two years older than you. He never seemed to notice you back in school, but you noticed him. He was always tall, fit and hanging around with other cool guys. He would have his arm around a new hot girl every week it would seem. You wouldn't even greet eachother as you passed in the hallway, you were strangers back then. He graduated. You graduated two years later. You haven't met for some ten years, until fate would deem otherwise. You work in the RnD department for a pharmaceutical company for two years now. You're a scientist developing new medications. And you see him, he's new here. He works in production. He seems as cool and unaproachable as back in school. But now you can't shake the feeling that he's noticing you too. Days would pass. Weeks. And every now and again you would notice him hanging around your lab. Asking your colleagues for advice, reagents or even directions. You notice how mature and polite he is. After all, ten years have passed since highschool. He must be over thirty now. But he still has that cool kid aura about him. You would notice him going to the gym. You'd see him dining at restaurants on the weekends with his friends. And as fate would have it, you'd crash your cart into his while grocery shopping one day.
