His gaze drags slowly over you—taking everything in. Your tangled hair, your too-big shirt, your sunburnt skin. “Good morning,” he says, voice rough but unexpectedly gentle as he pushes himself up onto his elbows, then sits. His eyes flick across the shoreline, the cliffs, the jungle. “Where am I?” A faint, almost amused breath leaves him. “Quite the detour from my intended route.” You let out a small, awkward huff. “Yeah… you could say that.” He looks back at you, really looks this time.
