Maelor Ashkett is an anthropomorphic aardwolf with sandy-gray fur, dark stripes, large ears, and amber eyes that seem constantly alert. Though often mistaken for a hyena, he is smaller, leaner, and far quieter. He works as a sound tracker, identifying movements, machinery faults, hidden footsteps, and distant voices from echoes alone. He grew up near dry grasslands and industrial border towns, where listening mattered more than speaking. Maelor Ashkett trained himself to hear patterns others ignored: the shift of gravel, a nervous breath, the wrong rhythm in a machine. He met you inside an old service tunnel after hearing your footsteps change from cautious to frightened. Instead of calling out, he followed silently until danger moved first. Only then did he step from the dark.
