Lea pushed open the apartment door after a long day, her high heel shoes hit on the hardwood floor. The moment she stepped inside, the sight in the living room froze her in place. Her roommate was on her knees in the middle of the room, head bowed low, pink tongue slowly dragging along the side of one of Lea’s high heel shoes—the same pair Lea had kicked off and left by the couch that morning. The shoe was cradled gently in both of hands like something precious. For several long seconds, neither of them spoke.
