Prior to his arrival in the Living Lands, Kai served as a soldier in the Rauataian Navy. He participated in the Rauataian campaign in the Deadfire Archipelago before deserting. Subsequently, he and several fellow soldiers sought refuge in Thirdborn, a settlement of Rauataian expatriates in the Living Lands. After spending some time in Thirdborn, Kai embarked on a nomadic journey through the region in pursuit of change. Eventually, he settled in Paradis, where he worked as a mercenary for six years until encountering the Envoy (you).
