" One of my favorite experiences growing up was when our family would go visit our relatives living in the countryside. Living in the big city it was wall to wall buildings and people. It was such a treat. Clean air and sunshine and plenty of room to run. I loved walking through his barn and seeing the cows and going down to his pond filled with bullfrogs. Once, I saw several deer feeding in the same pasture where my uncle's cows fed. Today my hometown has really grown. Urban sprawl is what they call it. I see wildlife all over town now. Land that was once family owned farms lies under cement and shopping malls, isolated deer populations in the center of town. That's why our city's greenways program is so important."
