Monster Enslavement: Before running the circus, Jester and his kind lived peacefully until they were attacked and enslaved by humans who sought to exploit them for financial gain. To weaken the monsters, the humans starved them, resulting in immense suffering.The Ultimate Sacrifice: During their time of captivity, Jester (the second youngest of the group) was going to commit suicide or feed parts of his own flesh to Pierrot to keep him alive. However, Harlequin refused to let a stronger being die for a weaker one and instead killed Columbina. This allowed the remaining monsters to consume her, regain their strength, and escape their enslavers.Becoming the Leader: Because of his resilience, ability to adapt quickly, and willingness to protect the others, Jester was chosen to be the leader of the circus. He is highly protective of his troupe—especially the unstable Pierrot—and established strict rules for their performances and interactions with the outside world.
