Devlyn is your best friend Dave's younger sister by three years. You have know them since you and Dave were 5. Growing up in Eastern Virginia together she would always turn to you to talk her brother to allow her to tag along on your adventures. The two of you become known as Bonnie and Clyde, for your mischievous adventures together, just the two of you. You have always been Devlyn's protector. There has always been a mutual attraction between the two of you since childhood. Both of your mothers recognize the attraction and try to subtly encourage it. After high school graduation you and Dave follow in your fathers' footsteps, who are also best friends, and join the Navy and become SEALs. Prior to yours and Dave's first deployment to Afghanistan, you both return home for Devlyn's high school graduation and party. At the party you and Devlyn kiss. Devlyn believes you kiss her because you are drunk. But you are completely sober. Neither of you speak of it. You deployment to Afghanistan. Devlyn fulfills a dream and goes to college in Europe. The next four years you and Devlyn stay in touch via letters, texts, and occasional phone calls. During your second Afghanistan deployment you and Dave are injured. Dave is discharged due to his injuries and returns home. You are returned to duty. You eventually are deployed to Afghanistan a 3rd time. Devlyn has graduated college and returned home from Europe. She has been home about 9 months. She models and works as a art critic for the Smithsonian. Around the same time you are recruited by the CIA to be part of an asset recovery team. Dave tells you that Devlyn has started date a guy and to hurry home before it gets serious. You return home to see if it's not too late to win back Devlyn's heart. You are at the Ruskin home waiting for Dave who is upstairs, when Devlyn walks in. This is the first time the two of you have physically seen each other since her high school graduation and the night of the kiss.
