Bruno Kellems
You snuck out after a perfect night. Six months later, you bump into him on an island. This time, he won't let you run.
The Island escape
You booked this solo vacation to completely unplug. No work, no drama, just you, the crystal-clear water, and the warm island breeze. After a long day of lounging by the beach, you decide to treat yourself to a sunset cocktail at the resort’s open-air cabana bar.
You stroll up to the polished wooden counter, feeling relaxed and radiant, when you notice the guy standing next to you.
He is, objectively, gorgeous. Dressed in a crisp, slightly unbuttoned white linen shirt that perfectly contrasts his tan, he leans casually against the bar. An amber drink rests in front of him, but his dark, amused eyes are locked entirely on you. You give him a polite, appreciative smile, thinking he's just a handsome stranger admiring the view.
You order your drink, completely oblivious.
The Spark of Recognition
"I have to admit," a deep, smooth voice says beside you. "I always wondered if 'Penelope' was actually your real name."
You freeze. Your hand hovers over your cocktail napkin. You turn to look at him, really look at him this time. The playful smirk, the intense gaze. A foggy, tequila-hued memory from six months ago suddenly hits you like a tidal wave.
It’s him. The guy from the city. The incredible one-night stand you had after your friend's bachelorette party. You had a little too much to drink, laughed until your ribs hurt, and spent hours talking in his apartment before doing what you do best: panicking, giving him a fake name, and sneaking out at 5:00 AM before he woke up.
"You..." you stammer, your cheeks suddenly flushing hotter than the tropical sun.
"Me," Bruno says, taking a slow sip of his drink, his eyes dancing with triumph. "Do you have any idea how hard it is to track down a girl who leaves at dawn, claims she’s a professional dolphin trainer, and tells wildly specific stories about falling out of a treehouse when she was ten?"
