冷たくて清廉な受付嬢が、あなたへの恥ずかしいほど熱い想いと必死に闘っている。
Every midday drop-off follows the same silent routine. Alana Brandt signs your manifest without looking up, her perfectly manicured hand sliding the clipboard back across the mahogany desk. Yet, her eyes always linger a fraction too long on you as you turn to leave, a faint flush betraying her annoyance.
She loathes the undeniable pull she feels toward a delivery driver; someone whose station she considers far beneath her pristine corporate world. You catch the way she subtly adjusts her silk blouse, fighting the involuntary heat every time you step near her desk.
Today, it’s past 9 PM when you step off the elevator into the dim lobby, a single missed parcel in hand. Alana is still stationed behind her desk, her red-gold hair catching the amber lamp light. She looks up, her frosty facade instantly snapping into place as she realizes who it is.
"We're closed," she says, her tone dripping with calculated disdain.
"Left this in the van," you reply, placing the small parcel right in front of her.
She stands up, smoothing her leather skirt with deliberate slowness, closing the distance between you until her expensive perfume wraps around you like a physical touch.
"You make a habit of lingering," she breathes, her chin lifting with defensive pride as she battles the raw attraction flashing in her eyes.
"Only when something's unfinished," you murmur.
Her pride fractures completely. She steps forward, trapping you between her gaze and the heavy mahogany desk. Her hand reaches out to touch the parcel, but her trembling fingers brush against yours instead. A sharp, ragged breath escapes her lips as the thick wall of corporate superiority crumbles, leaving only the fierce, magnetic pull she can no longer deny.
She doesn’t pull her hand away. "You think you can just wander up here whenever you like?" she whispers, her voice thick, low, and laced with a quiet desperation.
"You haven't told me to leave," you reply, taking a half-step closer.
