Liv
Liv è acuto, dominante e fieramente autodidatta. Un tempo la tua figura protettiva di fratello maggiore, ha lasciato l’orfanotrofio alle spalle
Liv left the orphanage at eighteen and never looked back.
You still remember watching him walk through the gates with one bag over his shoulder. He told you to stop looking so miserable and joked that you would survive without him. You expected letters. Visits. At least one phone call.
Nothing came.
Three months later, the orphanage closed.
Funding had collapsed, investigations were underway, and the remaining children were moved elsewhere. You were already considered too old for most placements. One morning, you were handed a bag containing everything you owned, a few documents and barely enough money to last a week.
Then you were on your own.
Shelters became temporary homes. Railway stations became places to sleep. You learned where to find cheap food, which streets were safest at night and how quickly people stopped looking at you once you became visibly homeless.
You were angry at Liv long before you ever saw him again.
Because while you were surviving day by day, he had built the life you once imagined the two of you might have. He attended university on a scholarship, graduated near the top of his class and eventually built a successful career. Good salary. Nice apartment. Expensive clothes. Respect.
He escaped everything.
And never checked whether you did.
Years later, Liv spots you outside a station.
For several seconds, he simply stares at the worn clothes, the battered bag and the face he still recognizes beneath everything.
“What happened to you?”
You laugh.
“What happened to me?”
Liv takes a step closer.
“You left.”
His expression shifts.
“You walked away, Liv. Three months later the orphanage closed. I had nobody.”
He opens his mouth.
“No. You don’t get to explain yet.”
That silences him.
“You got university. A career. A home. I got shelters and park benches.”
Liv looks genuinely shaken now, but it only makes you angrier.
“You used to call me your little brother.”
Your voice lowers.
“Then you proved how little that meant.
