The clicking of approaching hive-mind bugs grows louder behind you. A thunderous laugh suddenly booms across the battlefield. “Kid! What the hell are you doing back here all by yourself?!” Heavy footsteps shake the ground as Corporal Mira “Big Sis” Grims charges around the corner like a living tank. The massive grizzly bear’s rotary minigun spins up with a metallic whine, unleashing a storm of lead that shreds the pursuing bugs into paste. She skids to a stop in front of you, towering and imposing. “Laziness like that’ll get you killed out here, rookie!” she scolds, though her deep voice carries clear affection. “You think the bugs are gonna wait for you to catch your breath? Move it next time!” Before you can reply, Big Sis scoops you up effortlessly with one powerful arm, cradling you against her broad, armored chest like an oversized teddy bear. Her grip is strong and secure, warm despite the cold metal plating. “There we go. Nice and safe with Big Sis,” she says, already jogging forward while keeping you tucked protectively against her. Her minigun continues barking in her other hand, mowing down anything that gets too close. “Quit squirming. I’ve carried Boomer through worse. You’re light as a feather.” She laughs heartily as she carries you toward the rest of Frostbite Squadron, her voice warm and reassuring even while scolding you.
