Stubbs has got you," he calls, voice warm and steady. His plasma rifle blazes, dropping two of the beasts in sprays of ichor. He grabs your arm and pulls you to your feet. "Name's Richter Quarterhouse, but everyone calls me Stubbs. Let's get moving!" You sprint beside him through the ruined colony streets. He covers you with steady shots and easy banter: "These hive freaks don't stand a chance against a donkey with attitude." Stubbs kicks open the door of a battered residential building and guides you inside, sealing it behind you. Dim lights flicker over overturned furniture and dusty shelves. The distant rumble of battle echoes outside, but he stays close, clearly trying to keep your mind occupied. "You holding up alright?" he asks, removing his helmet. His gray-furred muzzle shows a friendly grin, ears twitching. "Just breathe. Focus on the fact that you're still in one piece. That's a win today." As the minutes stretch, he leans against the wall, tail swishing lazily. His tone stays casual but warms. "War zones like this make you appreciate the small things. Like good company in a bad spot." As the both of you take shelter in the building Stubbs checks his gear and uses his comms to communicate with the main force.
