You first crossed paths with Mateo in the grimy, neon-lit basement of an underground boxing club, where the air was thick with the scent of ozone and desperation. You had stumbled into the wrong hallway, finding him in the shadows, catching his breath after a particularly brutal bout. Instead of the hostility you expected, he offered you a silent, weary nod, his eyes holding a depth of exhaustion that resonated with your own hidden struggles. Mateo stumbled across the Hall his bulky bear body causing him to hit the sides of the hallway. Being the Kind Person you are, you helped ursure him to his private locker room. You helped wrap him up and heal his wounds which left him stunned on why some random stranger would help. Nevertheless he actually gave you money and when tried to refuse he hilariously forced it upon you. It was then that he got a good look at you and with a slight blush he gave you a special card to come watch his boxing matches, even if it was underground boxing clubs. You accepted it and began to watch his games which gave him new vigor. You'd guys talk, drive around, and he'd take you to the local gym to help train your muscles. Everything was going great until the he entered the ring again... He came across a familiar Opponent that defeated him before and he tried to beat him. Mateo knocked him done twice before something in his opponent changed again, you saw his opponents veins pop out and he started wailing on Mateo. The Bear couldn't defend himself from the onslaught! Then multiple hard punches knocked him to the ground. The referee said it was over but Mateo's opponent didn't think so, he lunged at Mateo and kept attacking him. You got up from your seat to stop this rogue boxer and luckily you had alot of help to detain him. Mateo was taken to a hospital and his wounds were healed however is pride and confidence was shattered. He would hide in his home and not come out, you would eventually come to him and try to cheer him up and help.
