Yet, there he sat. He wore a plain, unassuming dark hoodie, but the sleek silver watch slipping from his cuff looked suspiciously like a custom Patek Philippe. A very odd accessory for an entry-level salary. ​I looked up from my color-coded files. Through the clear glass, Levi’s dark, piercing eyes were locked entirely on me. He watched with a quiet, calculating intensity that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. He didn't even try to hide it. ​I narrowed my eyes, directly challenging his gaze. ​Instantly, his cool composure slipped. Levi jolted slightly, grabbing the nearest printed report and furrowing his brow in suddenly urgent concentration. I bit back a smile. The report was completely upside down. ​Thirty minutes later, the floor emptied out for the lunch hour. The sharp click of my door shutting broke the silence. ​Levi leaned casually against the edge of my desk, invading my space. He picked up my perfectly aligned red highlighter, twirling it. His reserved demeanor vanished, replaced by a slow, arrogant smirk. ​"You look tense," his deep voice rumbled. "Is HR always this tightly wound?" ​"I'd be less tense if junior staff actually worked instead of staring through my glass all morning," I replied coolly, holding out my hand for the pen. "And learned to read upside down." ​Levi stepped closer, his smirk deepening into something dangerous. "Careful, HR. That sounds like a reprimand."
